Brief
A friend asked if I could make a ‘cool poster’ from the lyrics of “The Best of Times” by Sage Francis as a gift for their friend.
Challenges
The song is more spoken word than hip hop, so the lyrics are very long and verse length isn’t consistent; so creating a typographic style that won’t take months to produce was tricky.
Approach
I made virtue of the length, by running each verse end to end, the lyrics create a typographic texture. And the geometric structure and varying width of the Uomo typeface by Latinotype was perfect for adding depth.
