I needed a new desk and I couldn't find one I liked, so I built my own.
I wanted to create a simple, flexible workspace that could handle typical design work, but also my various side projects ranging from illustration and papercraft to sewing and woodworking.
The top is 1800x600x30mm plywood, finished with clear poly to retain the natural colour. 10x100mm grooves are cut into one side to thread cables and caught in the box mounted underneath. The box is made from 16mm dressed pine, has an open back with a hinged panel at the front for easier access and handles made from 2mm paracord, knotted from the back. And I picked up the adjustable OLOV legs from IKEA.
The build took around 8 hours over a few days and cost less than AUD$200.
